For this I cut a 3 foot piece of 4" PVC, screwed in 3 'L' brackets as the feet (also making it able to be staked to the ground through the holes).
Then i screwed in 4 screws with tie wraps holding the lights, 200 white and 200 red. I spent about 4 hours tie wrapping EACH of the 400 lights in the same direction and proceeded to wrap the pole with the 400 lights.
I caulked a light fixture upside down on the bell end of the PVC and ran the power up through the inside and out a small hole i drilled at the bottom.
Added a 60 watt bulb, put on the frosted cover and VOILA...the north pole. My fiancee helped me make the North Pole sign that I have yet to figure out how to mount to the pole...I might just stick it in the ground in front of the pole if I can't figure out a way to keep it on without it falling off.
I intend to have this on throughout the entire show and not synced to music.
